After School Program
NYEC’s After School Program is for children ages 7- 15, and is a fantastic introductory program. Riders are placed into groups based on the riding level. All activities are horse related including riding of various disciplines, horse care, anatomy, feeding, grooming and tacking, bathing, and equine equipment. Children can come everyday, or once a week. Sessions run 4:30pm to 6:00pm or 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
Summer Camp
Our weekly camp programs create an atmosphere where a special relationship forms between the children and the NYEC horses. They learn the basics of horse care, washing, grooming, feeding and education on equipment and enjoy horseback riding lessons and trail rides. Summer Camp is for kids ages 7-14. The program runs Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Multiple week discounts are available.
Equine Studies
The program is especially designed for those that are looking to expend their overall equine knowledge. It covers three fundamental courses, with focus on equine management, equine education, equine health and nutrition. Students will learn in a classroom setting, as well as practice their skills hands on with staff and horses at the facility. The program is curriculum based and is run with a designated lesson plan.

Located at 633 Eagle Ave. West Hempstead, NY 11552, next to the 775-acre Hempstead Lake State Park, the New York Equestrian Center has been providing services at our facility for almost 100 years. Originally built and opened in the 1920's, the NYEC has recently received a complete redevelopment, marking 2012 as a huge step forward in our long history.

NYEC is located right off the Southern State Parkway at Exit 18, less than 15 minutes away from the JFK Airport.
If you are a Long Island Railroad commuter you can take the West Hempstead line to the Lakeview Station, we are less than a three block walk from the station.
